“One Year at Full Capacity – Getec Invests in New LED Fixtures from Robe”

Since its founding in 1999, Getec Eventtechnik GmbH, based in Graz, has established itself as one of Austria’s leading full-service providers. Milestones for today’s 15-person team include the Special Olympics, numerous events from the Red Bull sports and event universe, and the INEOS 1:59 Challenge with marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Getec’s strong presence in the sports and business sectors allowed the company to stand out with special events and campaigns. The year 2022 kicked off again with a multitude of live events — accompanied by numerous new investments in LED fixtures and more from Robe.

“2022 was a year of full capacity in the live event sector. That’s why we had an increased demand for classic touring spots and washlights,” explains Tobias Gailhofer, project manager at Getec. “At the same time, energy efficiency in LED lighting is becoming increasingly important. Additionally, outdoor fixtures are being requested more frequently.”

To meet all these demands, Getec invested over the course of the year in more than 100 Robe systems: 40 LedBeam 350, 24 ESPRITE, 12 iFORTE, and 2 RoboSpot follow spot systems. While the ESPRITE impressed as a classic spot/profiler with its low weight combined with high light output, the iFORTE drew attention as the lightest IP-rated fixture in its power class. With its 50,000-lumen output, TRANSFERABLE ENGINE™ technology, and revolutionary weather protection, the iFORTE is used among other things as an outdoor fixture paired with Robe’s remote-controlled RoboSpot follow spot system.

The corresponding shootouts took place at Getec as early as December 2021. The team was able to compare models from all well-known manufacturers. Besides lighting and feature quality, weight and manufacturer service ultimately tipped the scale in favor of Robe. As soon as the fixtures arrived at Getec, they went straight out on the road: “The LedBeam 350 were in continuous use all summer,” confirms Tobias Gailhofer.

Getec didn’t give the Robe models a break in the fall either. All 36 LedBeam 350 units, along with the ESPRITE and RoboSpot systems, were used at “The Picbes” Award Show at Stadthalle Graz. The ESPRITE fixtures also delivered powerful beam effects during live shows by SEEED in Vienna and Andrea Berg at the Berlin Waldbühne. Other concert highlights with Robe in 2022 included TOTO and David Garrett at Messe Graz. The action continues almost immediately in 2023, with the FORTE fixtures scheduled for their major outdoor debut at the Red Bull PlayStreets Slopestyle ski event in wintery Bad Gastein in February.
